How LED came about

At Home Lighting Needs, our solar charged products use LED (light-emitting diode).  The LED device is a semiconductor that emits “disjointed” narrow-spectrum light.  During the past 150 years, lighting technology was primarily limited to incandescent and fluorescent type lighting.   Although it was first noted in the late 19th century that semiconductor diodes could produce light, it wasn’t until 1962 when the first visible light-emitting diode was developed by a consulting scientist at the General Electric Company.
