Bathroom lighting – an Oasis

Choosing the right lighting for your bathroom can be  just as important as being able to go…to the bathroom (okay, maybe not so dramatic).

On a serious note, when setting up your bathroom lighting, take into consideration the mood you want to set as well as the type of lightbulb you choose.  It’s easier (and cheaper) to try different types of lightbulbs (incandescent, halogen, LED, etc.), but it’s the fixture you need to live with for many years.

Take into consideration the type of sink faucet, drawer handles, and any other finishes you have in the room before deciding on a vanity light.  For example, if your light fixture has a chrome finish but your faucets are pewter, the different undertones will make them seem out of place.

Enhancing Your Home’s Curb Appeal with Solar Lighting

Create a fresh new look…without breaking the bank.  Improve your home’s curb appeal with solar lighting.

Your home’s exterior should be an continuation of it’s interior by accenting the beauty on the outside as well.  Solar lighting can accent featured areas such as ponds, or attract attention to your house number (we also carry solar address lights), gardens and trees.  They can also provide extra safety by outling walkways and steps.

Always take into consideration where you are placing the solar light.  The best way to recharge the panel is to place it where direct sunlight is available the longest during the day.  Avoid shaded areas for optimal lighting throughout the evening and night.

Free Light…LEGALLY? Go Solar!

The time is right for Solar Lighting

Free light…LEGALLY?  Yes, it is possible to use free energy from the sun during the day to illuminate your surroundings at night.  Get decorative, reliable, long lasting LED solar charged lights from Home Lighting Needs (www.homelightingneeds.com) and eliminate the need to “plant” wires throughout your garden.  Solar lights are attractive and promote safety in their ability to provide visibility around ponds, walkways, paths, driveways etc.

How LED came about

At Home Lighting Needs, our solar charged products use LED (light-emitting diode).  The LED device is a semiconductor that emits “disjointed” narrow-spectrum light.  During the past 150 years, lighting technology was primarily limited to incandescent and fluorescent type lighting.   Although it was first noted in the late 19th century that semiconductor diodes could produce light, it wasn’t until 1962 when the first visible light-emitting diode was developed by a consulting scientist at the General Electric Company.

Clean and able to be replenished

The technology of solar power (also known as solar energy) is to obtain usable energy from the light of the sun.  We are now able to get clean and renewable energy that is continually replenished at no cost.  The sun has “burned” its massive collection of gas, mostly helium and hydrogen, for more than 4.5 billion years and has enough hydrogen fuel to “burn” for about 10 billion years.

To give you an idea of how powerful it is, the amount of solar energy the Earth “catches” from the sun each minute is greater than the amount of energy the world uses in fossil fuels in a year.  Although there’s an abundant amount for the taking, solar power currently provides less than 1% of US energy production.  Much thought should be placed on the fact that relying heavily on non-renewable fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil, and coal will one day result in these energy sources damaging the environment (environmentalists believe it is already happening during the “destructive” retrieval process), and/or becoming too expensive due to diminishing levels.
